Come Rest,

Resting
upon the Lord means following His lead under His guiding and protective Arm.
Sometimes He wants us to sit still with Him. Sometimes He wants us to walk with
Him. Sometimes He wants us to run. Sometimes He wants us to fight in battle
alongside Him. Right now, in Come Rest Ministries, He wants us to run into
battle with Him. We defeat the enemy by surrendering to Christ. It seems the
Lord is saying “Surrender, Offer, and Invite!” He wants us to surrender
personally to Him like never before. He wants us to offer Come Rest Ministries
Gatherings, Awakenings, Retreats, House meetings, and Covenant groups to
churches and cities like never before. He wants us to invite people to Come
Rest gatherings like never before.
1. Last week, at our new Fountain Friday
outreach at Rehoboth, His joyous presence was overwhelming as one-third of all
the people in the house had never been there before—yet we were all of one
heart and mind in Him.
2. Last Friday morning, I sat down with
Pastor John Hankins to offer our new Rehoboth Wellsprings Gathering as a way we
could serve CR Sanctuary Church. John immediately new from the Spirit he must
invite us this weekend to come help them celebrate their church
anniversary. Two years ago, the Lord called his congregation to step out in
faith to buy an old public school building for the purpose of comprehensive
discipleship of broken people hungry for new life and ministry in Christ. This
includes developing dormitories and class rooms for broken people who truly
want to be restored from hellish existence in prison, addictions, and other
challenges and to grow and minister in the power of Heaven. My own heart is
encouraged to be more bold as I write to you about their church and mission.
And now the Holy Spirit has told them to let us come to help them come up and
go deeper in His love, His rest, and His fruitfulness! What a privilege! The
Lord has led us to develop our new 3 Day Gathering model since last November
and now He is bringing it into churches. John asked us if we could amend our
model into a Saturday/Sunday approach for them so we are very excited to learn
from the Lord and adapt. We see a beautiful fusion of what the Lord is doing in
both ministries happening this weekend! Please pray for us. If you are local,
please come and invite your friends—both saved and not-yet-saved. Tell them
they can come and go as needed.

3. Last night, Pastor Caleb Plumb of
Encounter Christian Church in Cedar Rapids invited us to come provide our 3
hour Awakening of Love worship gathering the third Friday night of each month
this summer! Those dates (June 19, July 17, August 21) will be a whole new
opportunity of renewal and depth for that precious congregation as well as our
whole region. Please pray and spread the word.
4. Lest we forget, our monthly 3 hour
Awakening of Love evening worship time at River of Life takes place this Friday
night June 5th, precedent to the 2 Day Gathering. Three of our wonderful
worship leaders, Miriam Bandfield, Lori Owens, and Deb Polk will each lead out
for an hour. Wow, what a time it will be with the Lord!
5. If you are not local please ask the Lord
how He is calling you to open doors in your church or city for Come Rest
Ministries. Contact us and we will pray and discern with you. The Lord may be
calling you to help something happen in your church. On the other hand, the
Lord may be calling you to invite some believers from a variety of churches to
your home to meet us so we can plant some seeds for future events. Kim and I
have been given such a growing, committed team of co-laborers here in Cedar
Rapids that we can now anticipate more traveling ministry to your cities while
they, at times, carry the events here locally.

Reminder,
last week we notified you the Lord has placed Psalm 64 on our hearts as a
prayer/spiritual warfare focus through the month of
June. We believe the Lord is alerting us
to the enemy’s assault on pastors and their families. We call all global and
local friends of Come Rest to pray according to Psalm 64 specifically for the
pastors and leaders of the various churches and ministries in which you all
participate. Check in on your spiritual leaders, spouses, and families.
Surprise them with kindness and generosity. Join others in putting up a
prayer shield of faith around them through Psalm 64. Meditate upon and consider
memorizing Psalm 64 and declaring it aloud in prayer over your family. Ask for
divine appointments to pray for, and encourage people, with Psalm 64!
